ニューヨーク高等学校のホームページをご覧いただき、ありがとうございます。

本校は、学校法人永愛学園が海外に設ける最初の高等学校です。二〇二六年十一月二十一日に開校し、日本の学習指導要領に沿った教育を、日本語で行います。第一期生は、一年生の一クラスのみです。教室の窓からは、給水塔とレンガの建物が見えます。朝は地下鉄で通い、昼は購買部に並び、放課後は部活動に打ち込む。日本の高校生活の手触りを、この街で失わずに持ち続けたいと考えています。

本校は、学校法人永愛学園が海外に設けた最初の高等学校です。二〇二六年十一月二十一日に開校しました。日本の学習指導要領に沿った教育を、日本語で行います。第一期生は、一年生の一クラスです。教室の窓からは、給水塔とレンガの建物が見えます。朝は地下鉄で通い、昼は購買部に並び、放課後は部活動に打ち込む。日本の高校生活の手触りを、この街で失わずに持ち続けたいと考えています。

部活動は、部員が五名そろった部から始まります。本校の最初の部をつくるのは、第一期生の皆さんです。

Thank you for visiting the website of New York High School.

We will be the first overseas high school of the Eiai Educational Foundation. We open on November 21, 2026, following Japan’s national curriculum and teaching in Japanese. Our first intake is a single first-year class. From the classroom windows you can see a water tower and brick buildings. Our students will take the subway in the morning, line up at the school store at lunch, and give their afternoons to club activities. We hope to keep the feel of a Japanese high school intact, here in this city.

We are the first overseas high school of the Eiai Educational Foundation, opened on November 21, 2026. We follow Japan’s national curriculum and teach in Japanese. Our first intake is a single first-year class. From the classroom windows you can see a water tower and brick buildings. Our students take the subway in the morning, line up at the school store at lunch, and give their afternoons to club activities. We hope to keep the feel of a Japanese high school intact, here in this city.

A club begins once it has five members. The first clubs at this school will be made by our first students.

Our school motto is Independence, Creativity, Respect: to think for yourself, to make things yourself, and to respect and care for others. These do not change wherever one studies, and they are what we intend to grow here.

沿革History

校章・校旗Crest and Flag

校章は五弁の桜に「高」の一字。スクールカラーのえんじは、日本の学校の定番色であり、アメリカの学校で「マルーン」と呼ばれる色でもあります。The crest is a five-petaled cherry blossom with the character 高 (“high,” as in high school). Our school color, enji, is a classic in Japanese schools — and the same color American schools call maroon.

部の紹介About the Club

体育館を使えるのは月・水・金の放課後に限られるため、朝七時半からの朝練もあわせて予定している。台は四台。The gym is the club’s only on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons, so morning practice at 7:30 is planned as well. There are four tables.

部の紹介About the Club

本校にはグラウンドがない。練習にはランドールズ島の球場を借りる予定で、学校からは地下鉄とバスで四十分かかる。試合には九人が必要だが、部として認められるのは五人からである。The school has no field. Practice will be at a rented diamond on Randall’s Island, forty minutes away by subway and bus. A game needs nine players; the club needs only five to exist.

部の紹介About the Club

体育館を使えるのは週に三日。残りの日は、ウエスト四丁目の金網のコートで練習する予定である。地元の大人たちも使うコートなので、譲り合いが前提になる。The gym is theirs three days a week. On the others, the plan is the caged courts on West 4th Street, which the neighborhood’s grown-ups use too.

ランドールズ島の人工芝を借りて練習する予定。部の決まりは今のところ一つだけで、試合中の指示は日本語で出す。相手に伝わらないからである。Practice will be on rented turf on Randall’s Island. The club has one rule so far: instructions during a game are given in Japanese, so the other team can’t follow them.

冬は体育館、夏はコニーアイランドの砂浜で練習する計画である。体育館は、バドミントン部と曜日で分けて使う。Winter in the gym, summer on the beach at Coney Island. Gym days are split with the badminton club.

朝六時、公園の貯水池のまわりを走る予定。一周はおよそ二・五キロある。この時間の周回路は市民ランナーで混むため、抜かれないことが最初の目標になる。At six in the morning, laps of the reservoir in the park — about 2.5 km each. The path is crowded with runners at that hour; the first goal will be not to be overtaken.

部の紹介About the Club

本校にはプールがない。練習は月曜と木曜、近くの公営プールの一般開放の時間を使う予定。レーンが空いているかどうかは、行ってみるまで分からない。The school has no pool. The plan is Mondays and Thursdays at a nearby public pool during open swim. Whether a lane is free is something you find out when you get there.

部の紹介About the Club

日本で生まれた、柔らかいゴムのボールを使うテニス。この街ではほとんど知られておらず、公園のコートで練習すれば必ず質問される。顧問が、説明用の用紙を先に作った。Tennis with a soft rubber ball, invented in Japan and almost unknown here. Practice on a public court and people will ask. The adviser has already printed a sheet to hand them.

体育館の床で稽古する。竹刀の音と掛け声が響くため、窓を閉めて稽古することが、部の設置の条件になった。Practice on the gym floor. Because of the noise of bamboo swords and shouting, keeping the windows shut was a condition of the club being approved.

柔道場の畳は、開校にあわせて日本から船で運ばれた。港で三週間待たされた。The tatami for the judo hall came from Japan by ship, in time for the opening. It waited three weeks at the port.

土曜日に、郊外の屋外射場を借りて稽古する予定。弓は二メートルを超え、そのまま地下鉄に乗ると目立つため、顧問が専用の袋を用意した。Saturdays at a rented outdoor range outside the city. A bow is over two meters long and draws looks on the subway, so the adviser has had carrying bags made.

部の紹介About the Club

土俵を作る場所がないため、体育館の隅にテープで円を描いて稽古する予定。まわしは日本から取り寄せた。締め方を教えられる人は、まだいない。There is no room for a real ring, so one will be marked in tape in a corner of the gym. The mawashi have been ordered from Japan. Nobody here knows how to tie one yet.

バドミントンは風を嫌う。体育館では窓を閉め、空調も止めて練習する必要がある。同じ時間を使いたい卓球部との調整は、開校前から続いている。Badminton hates wind: windows shut, air conditioning off. The table tennis club wants the same hours, and the negotiations began before the school even opened.

部の紹介About the Club

日本のハンドボールは、七人ずつでゴールを狙う球技である。この街の公園で見かける、壁に向かって打つハンドボールとはまったく別の競技だが、名前が同じため、練習場所の予約でたびたび話が食い違う。Japanese handball is a seven-a-side goal game — nothing like the wall game in the city’s parks. The shared name keeps confusing the park’s booking office.

部の紹介About the Club

土曜日は近郊の山へ行く予定。平日は校舎の階段で足を鍛える。校舎は四階までしかないので、十往復する。Saturdays in the mountains outside the city. Weekdays on the school stairs — the building has only four floors, so it’s ten round trips.

週末に、川沿いの自転車道で練習する予定。橋の上は歩く人が多いため、練習は禁止と決めた。Weekend rides on the riverside path. The bridges are crowded with people on foot, so training there is banned.

多目的室の鏡の前で練習する。地下鉄の車内で踊るパフォーマーたちに見学を申し込むことが、最初の活動になる予定である。Practice in front of the mirrors in the multipurpose room. The first thing planned: asking the dancers who perform in subway cars whether the club may watch.

稽古は火曜と木曜の放課後、二階の和室で行う。茶道では、お茶の前にお菓子をいただく。和室の畳は、柔道場の畳と同じ船で届いた。Tuesday and Thursday after school, in the tatami room on the second floor. In the tea ceremony, the sweet is eaten before the tea. The room’s tatami came over on the same ship as the judo hall’s.

部の紹介About the Club

体育館の壇上に掲げた校訓「自主　創造　敬愛」は、顧問の松本先生が書いた文字を、そのまま板に彫ったものである。部の最初の仕事は、開校式の式次第を書くことになる。The motto over the gym stage was carved into the board from the adviser Ms. Matsumoto’s own brushwork. The club’s first job will be writing out the program for the opening ceremony.

部の紹介About the Club

顧問は大河内校長。図書室の奥を囲碁部と分け合う。ワシントンスクエアでは毎日チェスを指す人たちが集まっていて、校長はそこで将棋を教えるつもりでいる。The adviser is Principal Okochi. The club shares the back of the library with the go club. Chess players gather in Washington Square every day; the principal intends to teach them shogi.

図書室の奥を将棋部と分け合う。碁盤は三面、将棋盤は二面あるので、盤の数では勝っている。The back of the library is shared with the shogi club. There are three go boards and two shogi boards, so on boards, at least, go is ahead.

毎朝七時から音楽室で練習する予定。楽器は開校前にすべて届き、音楽室の棚に並んでいる。いまのところ、楽器の数のほうが、吹ける人の数より多い。Morning practice at seven in the music room. Every instrument is here and shelved. For now, there are more instruments than people to play them.

部室には、中古のアップライトピアノ、アンプ二台、ドラムセットがそろっている。吸音材は顧問の長谷川先生が自分で貼ったため、何枚か傾いている。バンドは四人で組めるが、部として認められるのは五人からである。The room has a second-hand upright piano, two amps and a drum kit. The adviser, Mr. Hasegawa, put up the acoustic foam himself, which is why some panels are crooked. A band needs four; a club needs five.

部の紹介About the Club

開校後は、校門での朝の挨拶当番を兼ねる予定である。風紀委員とは、立つ位置をあらかじめ決めてある。Once the school opens, the chorus will also stand at the gate for the morning greeting. Where they stand relative to the discipline committee has already been agreed.

開校後、校内の掲示物を担当する予定。いまは、どの教室の掲示板にも、まだ何も貼られていない。Once the school opens, the club will look after the notice boards. Right now, every board in every classroom is bare.

開校式の学級写真は、この部が撮影する。部員がそろっていない場合は、顧問の佐伯先生が自分で撮る。The class photos at the opening ceremony are this club’s job. If it has no members yet, the adviser, Ms. Saeki, will take them herself.

二月十三日の文化祭での公演を目標にしている。体育館の舞台の照明は古いため、電球の予備を先に買いそろえた。The goal is a performance at the cultural festival on February 13. The stage lights in the gym are old, so spare bulbs were bought first.

開校後、昼休みの校内放送を担当する。ニューヨークのその日の天気と、購買部の焼きそばパンの残り数を読み上げる予定である。Once the school opens, the club runs the lunchtime broadcast: today’s New York weather, and how many yakisoba rolls the school store has left.

月に一度、校内新聞を発行する予定。創刊号の見出しは「開校」の二文字に決まっている。A school paper, once a month. The headline for the first issue is decided: two characters, 開校 — “Opening.”

年に二回、部誌を出す予定。題は、教室の窓から見える給水塔にちなんで『給水塔』とした。Two issues a year are planned. The title comes from the water tower outside the classroom windows.

金曜の夜、校舎の屋上で観測を行う予定。顧問が下見をしたところ、見えたのは月と金星、それに飛行機が十二機だった。Friday nights on the roof. When the adviser tried it out, he saw the moon, Venus and twelve airplanes.

この街の地下鉄を研究する。駅は四百を超える。すべての駅で一度は降りることを、部の最初の目標にする予定である。The subject is the city’s subway, which has more than 400 stations. The first goal planned: get off at every one of them, at least once.

最初の研究題目はベーグルに決めた。この街の店を部員で分担して回り、食べ比べの記録を作る予定である。The first topic will be the bagel. The plan: split the city’s bagel shops among the members and keep a tasting record.

開校後、毎朝校門に立ち、服装と遅刻を確認する。委員は各クラスから選ぶ。いまのところ、クラスは一つしかない。From opening day, the committee stands at the gate each morning checking uniforms and lateness. Members are chosen from each class. For now, there is one class.

開校後、昼休みに図書室の貸し出しを担当する。蔵書は日本から送った三千冊。まだ一冊も貸し出されていない。From opening day, the committee runs library lending at lunch. Three thousand books were shipped from Japan. Not one has been borrowed yet.

行事の前に、体育館の裏で声出しの練習をする。近所への配慮から、練習は夕方六時までと決めた。最初の出番は、十二月十二日の球技大会になる。Before events, voice practice behind the gym — until 6 p.m. only, out of consideration for the neighbors. Their first appearance will be the ball tournament on December 12.

部の紹介About the Club

正式な部活動ではない。どの部にも所属しない生徒を、日本の学校では慣例として帰宅部と呼ぶ。活動は、放課後ただちに帰宅すること。開校日には、まだどの部も五名に達していないため、全校生徒が帰宅部になる。Not an official club. In Japanese schools, a student who belongs to no club is said, by custom, to be in the Go-Home Club. Its activity: going straight home after school. On opening day no club will have five members yet — so on opening day, the whole school is in the Go-Home Club.
